A Star Is Born: Dua Lipa

ree

The very first time I saw Dua Lipa on TV was an interesting moment for me. It was a regular day and I was watching a regular MTV countdown and then there was that brunette girl in that Sean Paul music video! I felt connected to the music video at that immediate moment! Not because of the song, but obviously it was Dua Lipa herself that catched me with her star light across the TV which is not that common especially in today's music industry.

2018 is definitely the year of Dua Lipa as her popularity has increased significantly, started her world tour and made wonderful works with Diplo and one and only Calvin Harris! I had a chance to listen her live this summer in Budapest which was my very first music festival experience and her first festival too as it was her debut "major festival concert". Not to mention her great style and athletic figure, London born Kosovo decent singer's performance was great but should tell it was not that different from her Youtube videos. However this can be understandable as she is still trying to find her spot in the music industry and for sure will improve her shows in the future.

If I should talk about the performance more, I should admit that I couldn't concentrate to her in the first 5 minutes as it was a precious concert for me to watch the music industry's future queen!

Although I called her the Millenium Madonna, when I reconsider her dance performance, she needs to push more and be braver but 23 year old singer has a lot of time to earn that performance queen title next to Madonna. BUT when I remember her songs and singing performance, I might be unfair to her by even considering to compare her with others as it was a marvellous experience to listen her songs live, without any barrier between her bare voice and me.

In today's digital world, everything is judged by appearence and visuality. But after 100 years from now, no one will have a chance to watch the live performances or won't check singers' Instagram profiles. The only thing that will matter will be talent and the ability to create goosebumps which I am definitely sure will be the case for Dua Lipa in the future!
